Yamba’s vision is to provide life changing help and support to those children and youth who are currently, or at risk of, living on the streets in the Jinja district of south east Uganda, based upon an ethos of love, commitment and proactive intervention.

Yamba will provide these young people with diverse opportunities tailored to their individual needs. This intervention will focus on programmes that counsel, rehabilitate and educate the boys to support them in becoming resilient, independent young men, capable of making a positive contribution to life in Uganda.

Through funding and individual sponsorship we hope to provide these boys with an education, vocational training, healthcare and creative opportunities so that they may develop self sustaining life skills in areas such as hygiene, cooking, craftwork, gardening and agriculture.

Yamba will provide for emotional and spiritual development through religious guidance as well as traditional and cultural education to help the children develop a positive personal and national identity.

In the future, we intend to purchase a residence to provide a home for those street boys who are unable to resettle into their own communities, as well as working as a halfway house for those who are about to enter adult life and provide practical assistance through home based initiatives.
